Dijon Tarragon Chicken Pasta
I threw this one together as a quick weeknight dinner with things I had on hand (and knowing Dijon and tarragon taste really good together) and I really liked it, so I'm sharing it with you.
Snap Pea Salad with Fish Sauce Vinaigrette
This salad is in heavy rotation this summer. It's pretty versatile, and it's been a great way for me to clean up any extra herbs and greens from the week. I've used pea shoots, mizuna, cilantro, spinach, all tasty. Everything comes together in just a few minutes as well (depending on how fast you can slice those peas).
Italian Chop Pasta Salad
This one's like an Italian chop salad, but instead of lettuce it's pasta, so that makes it better. That's all.
Grilled Honey Lemongrass Pork Tenderloin
Until now I've been making my fish sauce pork marinades all wrong. There's another one up on this site. This one is way better.
Carne asada
Here's my ever-evolving carne asada recipe, so far so good. Most of the time you're gonna see recipes call for skirt or flank steak, which are very good, but peruse the meat department and try out some cheaper, thin-sliced cuts too. This marinade works great on those. Make your tacos as fancy as you want to be, or not to be.
Chicken stir fry with rice cakes
This is one of my favorite ways to clean out the fridge. It was fried rice for a bit, but after trying various noodles and whatnot, my house settled on rice cakes (the Korean kind, not the Quaker kind) as the medium of choice.
Korean beef bowls
This is a weeknight staple in my house. Skip the gochujang at first if there are those among you who don't like spice — my kids will eat just the soy sauce/brown sugar mixture no problem. Cook the beef first with just that, take out their portions, then cook the rest of it with the gochujang for those of you who like some more flavor.
Miso Black Cod
You've seen this recipe a million times, and this one isn't much different — I just like it a tiny bit less sweet, so here are my ratios. This is the easiest fanciness-to-effort recipe you can possibly make. Make it and impress a loved one (or someone you want to love you). I love you.
Roasted Corn Salad
This is my new summer salad, and it's a great mix of flavors. I literally just opened up the Flavor Bible (check it out, great book) and combined a bunch of stuff that goes with corn and made a salad out of it. Now I'm posting it on the internet. Enjoy.
Jalapeno Mashed Potatoes
This is a really good way to spice up (though its not actually spicy) mashed potatoes. There’s not really much else to it, it tastes like it sounds.
Miso Cream Pasta
This is one of my go to weekday dinners. It’s insanely easy to throw together at the last minute, the hardest part being cooking your protein (which I guess you technically don’t even have to do). Even my kids eat it (though they complain about the Thai Basil).
Roasted Cauliflower and Kale Salad
Ok sorry this salad is a real pain in the ass to make. It’s really good though, and it keeps really well, which is good because each individual ingredient takes like 15-20 minutes. You can really do any of the above things in whatever order, so figure out what makes sense to you. You know you want to spend all afternoon in the kitchen making a single salad.
Herbed Sausage Gravy
Biscuits and Gravy is probably my favorite breakfast of all time, and while my biscuit recipe is shamelessly stolen from elsewhere, the gravy is my doing, so I can share it here. Before making this I really didn’t know how easy gravy was to make, you can pretty much wing it with the above ingredients (or add your own, and post it on your own page, look at you, you’re the gravy maker now) and it’ll come out great. Just make sure it’s thick.
Warm Greens and Couscous Salad
I'm not really a visionary for combining green vegetables and grains, but i need my own recipe like this so here it is. It’s healthy, it’s pretty filling, and it goes with most any protein. You can cut the panko if you want, but that slight crunch adds a lot, so i think you should keep the panko.
Quail Egg and Lox Breakfast Bites
Friend of ours gave us quail eggs, straight from the farm they were at, and i’d never cooked with them before, so i decided to make the most basic bitch breakfast of avocado toast. I then decided to add salmon lox and not even call this avocado toast in some subconscious way of saving face. Then here I am explanining it. This is really good though. Really easy. Makes you look fancy for not much effort, which is my wheelhouse lately.
